Pet
Partners:
Making
a Difference
(What
makes a good Pet Partner)
Animals that can be approached and touched by a friendly
stranger.
Animals
comfortably under your control when moving through a crowd.
Animals
that will accept a full-body hug from a child without resisting.
Animals
being startled, rather than panicked, if a person nearby began
yelling loudly.
Animals
showing curiosity rather than fear when faced with a dropped item
or distraction.
Animals
permitting themselves to be approached by someone who is using a
wheelchair.
Why
are Pet Partners so Important?
Pet
Partner teams bring a little happiness and some special memories
to the people who need it most. Animals are able to heal in
ways that doctors and medicine cannot. When Pet Partner
teams go to local homes they take conversation, interaction and
some "puppy love" with them. So why not take a
little happiness to some wonderful people who deserve it? It
is truly a rewarding experience!
